Explore your emotional connection to Shakespeare’s text in a new and exciting way. This is a fast paced, in-depth, advanced exploration of Shakespeare’s text for theatre students/actors with the goal you for cold readings, future auditions, or performing the plays themselves with emotion, wit and skill. DATES & TIMES Friday, Feb. 27: 3:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. | Room 51 (Fine Arts Building)Saturday, Feb. 28: 4:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. | Room 51 (Fine Arts Building)Sunday, Mar. 1: 1:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m. | Room 115 (Fine Arts Building) REQUIREMENTS Limited to 20 participants (Majors Only). Registration link below. Bring one monologue from one of Shakespeare’s plays, around 10-14 lines, and in verse only. It must be memorized, and something that really speaks to you, or interests you, even if you cannot explain why. Please do not us sonnets, Puck speeches, any "mad" characters (ex. Ophelia, Lady Macbeth, Lear) or Hamlet’s speech to the Players. The speech does not need to be your “type” – gender, age, or even likely casting for you. If your speech involves cuts or is an amalgamation of more than one section of a scene, please bring that cut with you. REGISTER HERE Laura Cole's Bio Laura has worked in professional theatre as an actor, teacher, director and choreographer for 35 plus years. As a professional actress she has performed Internationally, Off Broadway, and in regional and Atlanta theatre throughout her career and has directed numerous plays at the Shakespeare Tavern Playhouse in Atlanta. In 2002, she created the Education Department at ASC, and the professional training programs, as well as summer college intern programs. She specializes in teaching young adult and college age actors as they prepare for their professional careers. She is the Director of Education and Training at the Atlanta Shakespeare Company, and an Associate Artist with the Prague Shakespeare Company. Laura received her BS in Speech/Acting from Northwestern University and spent many years teaching and training with the world-renowned Shakespeare & Company in Lenox, MA. She also grew up in Athens, GA.
