The University of Georgia’s Theatre and Film students continue to pursue professional and creative opportunities beyond the academic year. During the summer, students across majors and programs engaged in high-level artistic training, teaching, and performance experiences nationally and internationally.

Kaylor Jones, a third-year student double majoring in Theatre and Entertainment and Media Studies with a Musical Theatre Certificate, and Emma Martin, a fourth-year Theatre and Public Relations double major, participated in the Stella Adler Conservatory Musical Theatre Intensive in New York City. This rigorous six-week program integrated Adler’s acting technique with focused instruction in voice, dance, and song interpretation. Students worked with Broadway performers, music directors, writers, and casting directors, with an emphasis on truthful storytelling, character development, and the fusion of acting into all aspects of musical performance.

Abby McWethy (pictured), a third-year student majoring in Theatre and Entertainment and Media Studies, attended the department’s London Study Abroad program. While in Europe she also got to visit Paris and road trip through Ireland. She watched over 20 performances ranging from Romeo and Juliet at Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre to The Lightning Thief. She interned for UGA Alumni, Jason Hafford, at his company Prototype Content. There she learned more about the film industry, not only in London, but on a global scale. She had an incredible time immersing herself in the arts, travel, and getting to do it all with her family and friends.

Wyn Alyse Thomas, a fourth-year Theatre and Nonprofit Management Double Dawgs student, served as both a teaching assistant and teaching artist at the Alliance Theatre through its Teaching Artist Training Program. She also interned at the Ojai Playwrights Conference, contributing to the new play development process, participating in writing workshops, and gaining administrative experience. In addition, Thomas taught musical theatre, acting, on-camera performance, dance, and improvisation to K–6 students during Drama Camp.

Anzy Burley, a third-year Theatre major, traveled to New York City with the Hugh Hodgson School of Music and performed the role of Mayzie La Bird in Seussical at Powell Performing Arts.

Abigail D’Aguillo, a second-year student double majoring in Advertising and Theatre with a minor in Studio Art, worked as a teaching assistant at the Alliance Theatre, supporting student learning and assisting with weekly performance showcases. She also participated in the Grady Summer Studio Portfolio Program and performed in the 10-year reunion showcase of Kristin Chenoweth’s Broadway Bootcamp as an alumni performer.

Alyssa Halford, a fourth-year Theatre and Psychology major, studied abroad through the department’s London program and interned with Chickenshed Theatre. She served as a helper with Tales from the Shed, Spots and Stripes, and Opera Blurgh 2025. Her responsibilities included supporting day-to-day student activities, choreographing scenes, assisting with musical arrangements, and reading and developing new scripts.

Luke Tanner, a second-year Entertainment and Media Studies and Psychology double major with a Theatre minor, worked as a teacher and director with Forefront Arts summer camps. He led different camp sessions each week, teaching and directing youth in productions, including original scripts he wrote himself.

These immersive experiences reflect the department's commitment to continuous artistic engagement and professional development. For these students, the show never stops.
