Playwright Sandy Rustin to Visit UGA Theatre & Film

UGA Department of Theatre and Film will be welcoming playwright and librettist Sandy Rustin for a visit with students and faculty on Friday, October 3 at 4:00p.m. in Room 400 of the Fine Arts Building. Named by American Theatre Magazine as one of the most produced playwrights in the country, Rustin has built an extraordinary career spanning Broadway, national tours, and international stages.

Her smash-hit adaptation of the cult classic Clue has been produced more than 5,000 times worldwide and continues its U.S. tour. She made her Broadway debut with the feminist farce The Cottage, recognized by Entertainment Weekly as one of the best plays of the year. Rustin’s musical adaptation of Mystic Pizza premiered in 2025 alongside a newly released cast album, while her recent works include The Suffragette’s Murder (winner of the Edgerton Foundation New Play Award) at the Denver Center and Always Something There at Chicago’s Marriott Lincolnshire Theatre. Upcoming projects include Loch Ness, premiering in 2027. Beyond her writing, Rustin is a sought-after speaker and teacher, leading her popular masterclass Writing Comedy for the Stage around the globe.
