MOTHER COURAGE & HER CHILDREN

Mother Courage & Her Children by Bertolt Brecht (English translation by Eric Bentley)

In Brecht’s seminal work, the canny mercenary survivalist Mother Courage trudges through a long-standing war, switching alliances and carving out deals, causing her to lose her three children due to her own jaded dealings in capitalism, carelessness and callousness, This epic play with music explores the intersections of class, war, personal freedoms, religion and the almighty dollar. This particular production is inspired by Station 11 and The Last of Us and is set in a post-apocalyptic time. Even after the world has effectively ended, can the cycle of war and profit ever be broken if opportunism keeps knocking?
