TBD Small group Q&A discussion available. To attend, email Dina Canup (dinac@uga.edu). Mandy Kay Rodgers (2008, Film Studies and Magazine Journalism) has 15+ years of experience in the film/entertainment industry using skills gained from both of her majors. She joins us in person to share her insights about the industry and her career path from having been a film studies major who wondered “how to get a job getting paid to watch movies” to her innovative work in publicity and promotional campaigns for major motion pictures, Broadway productions, and more. Students will have time to ask questions and get her advice on the challenges of entering the workforce today. Hosted by the Theatre and Film Leadership Forum. About the Alumna When Mandy graduated from UGA, she moved to Los Angeles and started working as a journalist and blogger before transitioning to publicity and marketing for film and entertainment. An “enthusiastic lover of film,” she’s a digital marketing executive who has led 500+ marketing campaigns varying in size and scope across nearly every major Hollywood studio and brand before launching Atlanta-based MKM (Mandy Kay Marketing). Her work encompasses film releases and streaming platform launches to experiential events and lifestyle brand promotions as MKM creates, manages and executes publicity, influencer marketing, grassroots, and partnerships/promotional campaigns on a local and national level. Current Clients Include: Netflix, Universal Pictures, WarnerMedia, Imagine Exhibitions, Sony Pictures, Paramount Pictures, All About the 360, Into the Film, Treehouse Studios Atlanta, Cinedigm, and HBOMax. Most recently she managed the red carpet at the Sept. 15 Emmy Awards ceremony, “helping to announce the celebs as they arrived to the red carpet, and then during the show, wrangling the winners through the press lines, photoshoots and getting their Emmys.” Earlier this month, she spearheaded a Twisters Immersive Experience and Media Day to celebrate the film’s home release from Universal Pictures. She’s also a UGA 40 Under 40 Honoree who has recently served on the UGA Women’s Leadership Council. Monday, September 30 2024, 1:40 - 2:30pm
