The Department of Theatre and Film congratulates Wyn Alyse Thomas on being named a recipient of the UGA Presidential Award of Excellence. 

The Presidential Award of Excellence is awarded to undergraduate students in their final year of study who have demonstrated outstanding academic achievement, strong extracurricular involvement, and/or service to and engagement within their respective school or college. Being chosen for this distinction reflects not only their accomplishments but also the respect and admiration earned from the faculty, staff, and academic leaders within their academic community.

Thomas earned regional and national recognition for her original work, First Semester: A Musical, which was selected as the 2025 Invited Shelton Production at the American College Theatre Festival Region IV. The musical advanced to the American College Theatre Festival Nationals and garnered multiple honors throughout its development, including the David Shelton Award for Full Length Playwriting and the National Partners of the American Theatre Award for Region IV. 

Thomas’ sustained artistic achievement and leadership exemplifies the creative excellence recognized by the Presidential Award of Excellence.
